Tonight, at B&D Skate Center in Independence, Fountain City Roller Derby hosts House Game 2 in what is, at this point, almost sure to be a preview of this year’s championship games. First on tonight’s menu are two perennial powerhouses that have dominated the derby landscape in Fountain City for quite some time now, the Royal Pains and the Shotgun Sheilas. Even though it’s only June, you have to know these two teams are looking to tonight to gauge where they are and where they’ll need to be in anticipation for the championship showdown later this summer. That game kicks off at 5:30.
Then, around 7:30, the Deadly Sirens and the Lovely Lethals, two teams with strong winning traditions themselves, face off in what’s sure to be the grudge match preview of this year’s championship games. These two talented teams have struggled the past few seasons and haven’t quite been able to keep up with the Pains/Sheilas freight train phenomenon that left the station around 2012 and never looked back. Regardless, this tenacious and fearless group of athletes will be bringing all they’ve got to the track tonight at B&D, and you won’t want to miss it.
