How she discovered KCRW:
“A friend and I were having dinner one evening and she said she saw in the paper that there is something called roller derby tryouts… ? Then her husband said I would never do it! That was all it took — game on!”

Origin of her derby name:
“Evolution was from the movie The X-Men. 2012 counted down our time on earth as the Mayan calendar ticked away. After December 2012, we were all still here, so it was only the proper thing to do to start at #1 — my first three years of skating had evolved me in to somewhat of a Situation.”

Past injuries:
“I have been super blessed to be healthy all of my derby career. I pulled something in my upper thigh two years ago, but that was nothing a little duct tape couldn’t handle. There are pictures.”

Favorite skater:
“Kelley Young is my favorite jammer, and the blocker that taught me to be the most like me was the one and only Eclipse.”

Proudest derby moment:
“Being awarded the 2011 All-Star Skater of the Year. The 2011 team was a unstoppable force. I was in the company of the greatest derby players on the track. This was the single most humbling, emotional, and speechless moment of my derby career.”
