How did you discover Fountain City Roller Derby?
“My good friend Brief Encounter encouraged me to join in 2013, but recently it was Irritating Irish that enticed me to return.”
Tell us the origin of your derby name.
“My name comes from my impromptu mouth. I speak before I think, even when it’s not my conversation I’m jumping into. Not trying to be rude, it’s just a part of having ADHD. It’s usually me just trying to be funny.”
Who inspires you on the track?
“I’m honestly inspired by everyone in our league because no matter their skills or experience on the track, they are all out there trying their best and striving for improvement.”
Roller derby changes every life it touches. How has it changed yours?
“Roller derby has helped me in so many ways. I’m in the best shape of my life thanks to derby. It is truly the best workout on the planet! It’s given me the strength to overcome my fears on and off the track, to push myself harder, and to never give up. It’s an amazing feeling to have such amazing people stand by my side and accept me just the way I am. I’m proud to be part of such a great community.”
What sets you apart in Fountain City?
“My resilience is what sets me apart. I’ve been knocked down time after time on and off the track, but I will keep getting up. When you get knocked down the only place to go is up! Even though I had to take some significant time off, I feel like that’s what makes me better and stronger now than when I left 3 years ago.”
