The 2016 Victory Vixens

If you’ve been following along on our Facebook page or Twitter feed, you know that the Victory Vixens skated away Saturday night with their second consecutive Rink of Fire championship — and their third overall — in front of an ecstatic crowd at Memorial Hall who got exactly what they paid to see — some of the most intense and hardest-hitting flat track action of the season.

We’re still in the process of getting the final score from the league; it disappeared from the scoreboard so fast Saturday night that we never saw it. The Black Eye Susans, as we knew they would, put up one of the most epic fights of the year, closing a double-digit gap and bringing the score to within four points in the first half, and at no point in the bout did either team appear to be running away with it. It was exactly the kind of Rink of Fire we deserved, and indeed, the kind of championship game we needed.

We’ll have the full photo album for you as soon as we can this week. In the meantime, we’d like to extend heartfelt congratulations to these Victory Vixens, as well as the entire league, for an outstanding 2016 season that was rip-roaring fun every inch of the way. It’s the kind of fun we’ve frankly come to expect from these extremely talented ladies and gents.

Word around the derby campfire is that there will be more All Star and Plan B shenanigans before the year is out, so we’ll certainly keep you posted as events warrant. Keep an eye out also for the Kansas City Junior Roller Warriors, whose season kicks off July 30.
