KCRW Coed Scrimmage

Mark your calendars for this Friday night, February 19th at 7 p.m., and make sure you’re there when the Kansas City Roller Warriors host their first coed scrimmage in at least a couple of years, this one at Memorial Hall in KCK.

You may have seen on social media that our friends at KCRW have been putting in considerable effort to get a MRDA (Men’s Roller Derby Association) league back on the track in Kansas City after the Cowtown Butchers officially dissolved last year. That’s still a work in progress, but because there has been considerable interest up to this point, the Roller Warriors have organized a coed scrimmage full of veterans from KCRW, Fountain City, and the Butchers alike. Team rosters (“Black” and “White”) were posted on Facebook this weekend and include such past and present greats as Crimson Cobra, Raia Sunshine, Mr. Roboto, Jamalamadingdong, Mariah Scarey, and Leroy Jenkins. It’s not something you’ll want to miss.

Now, here’s the deal. Tickets are $8 per person, they will only be sold at the door, not in advance, and the most important part is that there is a hard cut-off of 249 spectators. (This cut-off applies to this event only.)

Once the 249th ticket has been sold that night, doors will close and the bout will begin. You don’t want to be left on the sidewalk with nothing but $8 cash and a frown. So get to Memorial Hall well before 7 p.m. Friday night and make sure you’re in on this one-of-a-kind action. We’ll see you there!
